Talk on Fluid Transparency in Maya

Fluid Transparency in Maya from destruct007 on Vimeo.

Not a tutorial so much as it is me explaining some things about how I understand fluid transparency. It's a confusing thing since there are so many places it can be edited, and it's unclear what effects each slider has on the final render. I try to get into where and why it's confusing but I don't really make it clear since it is confusing... but I make it clear-er.

The Rec or Video stoped at 35:22 JUST as you created the 2d fluid vol. I'm guessing that is not the real end as it was just after you pointed to opacity input bias.
ALSO.. re: either opacity input bias OR Self shadow slider..noticed you can "texture" those values..so you could attach a projected ramp onto the self shadow(maybe a nonprojected one as well some how?) so that the bottom is "thicker" and the top is "thinner" using ramp values OR is there a Trick to assignign a 3D texture to that as well..maybe thru a ramp that will help assist in getting desired transparency.. (im thinking texuring it also like you did in overburn with paricle sample to texture origin) just a raw 3d texture may show "swimming effect" but maybe setup a 3d texture and have it linked up with speed of the smoke to eliminate the swimming ..or maybe you know a trick along those lines w expressions...?
-----Would be great if ya could post a quick ending to this vid..
AND AGAIN this is great-ur great-even if the britsh boy says ya aint...just to be able to listen to you think out loud thru this...w.o the annoyance of having us(me)there to bug/interup with weird questions..
